I gots the calendar up with all basics and descriptions. It will be a changing thing as I’ll put up stuff when I here about it…if there’s anything you think I should add email me and let me know. Eventually I would love to have this be a gathering of all the helpful and informative goings on in the city.
Back from the depths. 01/26/2009
Well. Due to the crazy ass circumstances that have afflicted the otherwise most dedicated and plucky sponsors of this project the well intentioned promise of classes beginning on Jan. 15th did not come to pass. But we’re back and NOLAfreeschool lives on!
Some changes:
As this is still a new first time ever thing for New Orleans we decided to cancel having a specific due date and a fixed ’semester’ and will instead to continue to accept classes for whenever you can you have them. We will not be passing out a physical calendar but will instead host the calendar here on the website and update it as you send us your classes in. Within the next week expect many and various updates (such as the creation of an actual calendar) on the Calendar page of the classes/events/ workshops etc. that are happening in town. We will be passing out flyers soon of what classes we do have and to encourage more people to send us information about their skill sharing fun.
In conclusion:
NOLAfreeschool still needs you to make this an actual thing that exists in the reality of our everyday life that is currently occurring! So send us your classes! We will also be uploading flyers, feel free to print and distribute to your heart’s content and help up get the word out.

NOLA freeschool is a skill sharing self-educating informal community learning bonanza for all ages in all of New Orleans. We the community of New Orleans look to organize and provide the means to educate ourselves outside the authoritarian halls of ‘traditional’ education and into an open and welcoming space where everyone is taking turns as teacher and student. By creating for ourselves the education we need in our lives we empower ourselves to better shape the world we want to live in. Help us make more available to more people the organic exchange of knowledge and skills and ideas which already swirl around on every street corner with every new song learned and in every new home built by friends.
